Babelsberg Castle Concerts: German Film Orchestra Babelsberg & Brueder Selke: Cello & Synthesiser

With this special concert series, the German Film Orchestra Babelsberg is continuing its collaboration with the Prussian Palaces and Gardens Foundation Berlin-Brandenburg in 2026. Three concerts in the historic ballroom will set the scene for the palace’s special openings from August to October, featuring guided tours exploring the palace’s fascinating and previously overlooked historical and contemporary stories.

At this concert in the series, you can look forward to works for cello and synthesiser – both in their original form and as arrangements – performed by the deputy principal cellist of the German Film Orchestra Babelsberg and his brother, a pianist who will take over as director of the Singakademie Potsdam from autumn 2026. Having grown up in a prefabricated block of flats in East Berlin, the ‘Selke brothers’ developed a passion for film and music from an early age. Today, their own compositions can be heard in international productions; this evening, they will be performed here in dialogue with cinema classics.
